Monday Morning Blues; John Fahey's Existential Quagmire Blues

Steve Calt & Dave Mann  John Fahey's Existential Quagmire Blues

After doing these Monday Morning Blues posts for a few months, I finally realized that nearly every Blues song could be summed up by a section of the Four Noble Truths, which shouldn't have taken me so long to see, since the Four Noble Truths deal directly with the Blues.

The thing about this song, though, is that I don't think I've heard any other song capture the struggle most of us experience when taking up practice. Perhaps unknowingly, it manages to touch on all four of the Truths, even slightly setting the wheel in motion.

Unfortunately, and/or realistically, there are no Buddhas at the end of this song, but he does arrive at a somewhat of a "don't know" mind, fertile for realization. And even though it will bore him, a meditation teacher once said, "If you're bored then you're doing something right!"
