the Floating Nun at Wat Tham Mangkhon Thong

A couple hours outside of Bangkok, in Kanchanaburi, there is Wat Tham Mangkhon Thong (Cave Temple of the Golden Dragon), famous for it's "Floating Nun", who, for a small donation, will float in the temple pond while performing traditional Buddhist mudra poses.

The original nun, who has passed on, used to meditate while floating in the pool, and her disciple likely continues the tradition as a way to draw income for the temple. The whole experience was more tourist-trappy than anything, but it made for a unique day trip, anyway!

Here's to hoping Bangkok can keep afloat until the flood is over!
