Dragons in the eves

Inside Korean temple halls, you'll usually find dragons in the beams supporting the tiled roof.

If you look up at the picture in the header, of a temple in Thailand, you'll see long, curved points protruding from the eves. These are the claws of the dragon hiding inside.

The dragons are there to protect the temple from evil spirits.

  1. I always figured that those dragons up in the ceiling were there to keep me in check, to keep me from doing damage to others!
