  1. Hi Joseph,

    Completely off-topic and irrelevant but.......

Following our discussion the other day on the comparison between Buddhist and Christian ideas of the devil and hell, I came across this great quote. It is attributed to Saint Therese of Lisieux but I'm not sure if it is actually her words (lots of dodgy quotes around since the days of the Internet). Still, it represents a thread of what is often called "Christian Universalism" that has run throughout the entire history of the Church and that suggests that Christ does not cease his work until every soul has left hell and found its way to God. (I'm pretty sure it was CS Lewis who said that Hell is locked only from the inside!). The parrallels with Buddhism are obvious and I hope you don't mind me mentioning it here. I kind of think it goes well with the JiJang Bosal picture!

"I believe in Hell and I believe that it is empty." ~ Saint Therese of Lisieux

    All the best,

    Marcus

  2. Hi Joseph,

    On second thoughts.......

That quote is really very interesting to me, but it probably doesn't belong here on your blog! If I wanted to continue our interesting discussion I ought to have sent it to you in an email!

Please delete it! It come across as trying to say that Christianity and Buddhism are the same (which they're not) or something. In any case, I apologise for using up the space in your blog post and brain! LOL!

Okay, enough of my mad ramblings!

Take care mate and with palms together,

    Marcus

  3. Hi Marcus, Actually, I do want to continue our discussion, mostly because you've helped me realize how narrow my view is and my experience has been.

I don't mind your comments here, but if you'd still like me to delete them, let me know.
